Brian Abel Ragen is an active parishioner at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis. He has served as a lector and an extraordinary minister of the Eucharist and taken his place on many committees when the parish has been able to make use of his talents. He has been present at the Cathedral for many memorable events, including the visit of Pope John Paul II to St. Louis in 1999, and the first visit to St. Louis by its Archbishop Emeritus, Raymond Leo Burke, after his appointment to the College of Cardinals.

Ragen currently serves on the boards of
The Friends of the New Cathedral and St. Louis Cathedral Concerts.

He is also an active supporter of the Archdiocese of St. Louis’s Annual Catholic Appeal, and served on its council from 2021 to 2025. In the course of his work on the council, he visited many of the institutions of archdiocese and most of the agencies support by Catholic Charities in St. Louis. His work in support of Archbishop Rozanski's affordable housing initiative led to his appointment to an archdiocesan committee that will continue to address that urgent problem both in the City of St. Louis and in the rural areas surrounding it.

More information on Ragen’s involvement in the church can be found in the sections of this website devoted to
music, literature, liturgy, and chivalry.
